To ensure equal access
for all Mount Diablo Unified
School District (MDUSD)
students to the benefits
and privileges inherent
in American citizenship,
the Teaching American
History for All (TAH for
All) project will provide
a rigorous professional
development program for
a cohort of 50 Mt. Diablo
teachers in low performing
schools over a three year
period, designed to increase
student understanding
of and appreciation for
American history, improve
student content literacy,
and encourage active involvement
in the American democratic
process.
Goa1 1:
Achieve measurable improvement
in the learning of American
history among Mt. Diablo
Unified School District’s
underperforming students.
Goal 2:
Develop and disseminate
a model American history
program, which improves
achievement for English
learners and economically
disadvantaged students.
Benchmarks:
for Goals 1 and 2
By the end
of the three-year cycle,
participating teachers
and students will achieve
the following benchmarks:
Goa1 1:
Student test scores
on the California
Content Standards
Test for American
history will increase
by 5% over a three-year
period.
Goa1 2:
- Teachers will
present classroom-tested
American history
lessons at the Fall
2009 TAHFA Conference
on the UC Berkeley
campus.
- The TAHFA website
will feature teachers’
lessons, student
work, audio tapes
of historians’
presentations, and
primary and secondary
sources.(Years 2
and 3).
At the conclusion of
the Teaching American
History for All project,
teachers will be highly
qualified professionals
and will have earned stipends,
received abundant American
history resources, and
established a dedicated
community of American
history educators.. |
